Bridges can be a great solution for filling gaps. They are fixed to teeth adjacent to any gaps. Most are made in laboratories or using CAD CAM technology.
A bridge is made by reducing / cutting down the teeth on either side of the missing tooth . The reduction is to accommodate the material used to make the bridge. The aim of the bridge is restore the size and shape of the original teeth and to ensure that there is correct alignment and contact with the opposing teeth from the opposite jaw. They are bespoke custom made device to fit the individual.
Materials used for bridge fabrication include gold, porcelain fused to metal, zirconium or in the correct situation porcelain alone. The recipient of such a bridge must be careful to clean well under this prosthesis to give many years of function.
