After qualifying from Manchester in 1995, Dr Z A Khan spent several years working within Oral and Maxillofacial surgery departments treating patients referred to the hospital system. During this time Dr Z A Khan attained the coveted and prestigious Fellowship in Dental Surgery degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
Following his surgical posts, Dr Z A Khan went to the Leeds Dental Institute Restorative Department where he worked closely with the consultants. After these posts, Dr Z A Khan spent several years in a specialist implant referral practice. During this time he attended the 2-year implant diploma at the Royal College of Surgeons, London.
Dr Z A Khan has a strong commitment to postgraduate education and routinely attends implant and cosmetic courses and lectures around the world. Dr Z A Khan has a keen interest in cosmetic, implant and surgical-related treatments and has been sedation trained and qualified for 22 years!
Dr Z A Khan became the principal dentist at Horsforth back in 2007, after taking the practice over from Dr JP Teal. He has expanded the practice since taking it over from a single surgery to a busy five-surgery practice.
In addition to simple implant and cosmetic treatments, Dr Khan has trained further to be able to provide more complicated implant procedures, particularly those involving bone grafting and sinus lifting/ augmenting.
Few dentists offer these services, as such we do take referrals from other practices for this type of work, particularly for the ‘All on 4’ and ‘Same day teeth’ treatments.
Dr Khan also offers ‘short-term orthodontics’ and is fully certified for various systems including the ‘Inman Aligner’ ,‘Quick Straight Teeth,’ ‘Invisalign’ and ‘Clear Correct systems.
In addition to working within the mouth, with his knowledge of anatomy, he has been involved in medical aesthetics for several years and routinely injects toxins and fillers for patients wishing to soften the signs of ageing.
In addition to overseeing a busy practice, Dr Khan has been an accredited ‘Trainer’ for ‘Foundation Dentists’ for several years now and has close links to the Postgraduate Deanery for Medicine and Dentistry. He is also involved in training new dentists leaving dental school.
